We would not be here if we were not meeting or exceeding our customer’s needs.  Dogs are our only business.”  Jim and Kay Zelienka on the mission of Badger Kennels.

Training professionally since 1974, Jim Zelienka has worked with thousands of dogs and their owners. He begins with obedience and yard training and then moves to put 26 years of guiding experience for upland bird hunts to work. Twenty three of those years were enjoyed hosting the corporate hunts for M&I Marshall and Ilsley, Wisconsin’s largest banking firm. During those hunts, Jim entertained guests with a variety of Badger Kennels’ flushers, retrievers and pointers as well as with the cockers of Jack Puelicher, then Chairman and C.E.O. of the firm.

From those proven dogs, Badger Kennels has established a selective breeding program that today allows the business to offer a limited number of puppies and finished dogs to the general public. 

Certainly, Badger Kennels has been blessed with their share of exceptional English setters, pointers and springers. Jim and Kay have bought and bred some of the finest hunting dogs in the country.  For those from the past, there   are fond memories. To the future, the Zelienkas are committed to maintaining and training their private line of Field English Cockers and classic black and yellow, to fox red, Labradors, with the integrity of breeding that their customers expect and deserve.
